Here’s the scene at the Balloon Story Writing Adventure:
As your students enter the multipurpose room, you’ll hear gasps and excited chatter as they see me on stage, finishing up my final preparations for the show. Colorful balloons decorate the stage and mysterious items are set on a single onstage table. Six easels line the back of the stage: Person, Place, Thing, Verb, Adjective, Adverb.
Ever heard of Balloon Theater? First I involve the entire audience with my interactive “Balloon Theater” storytelling style, using balloons as props and costumes and audience members as my actors.
Next, we play my original Story Invention Game using the parts of speech easels at the back of the stage.
“Wasn’t that fun? Let’s write our own story!” Using the words your students come up with during the Game, we write and perform an original story right there during your assembly! No pencils or paper required!
Now for the Finale: The famous 6-foot balloon. Jaws will drop as I inflate a 6-foot balloon on stage, and then climb inside to tell a story. Yep, you heard me right.
Back to class with a mission: Annie’s Story Contest. Your students will wind down from all the excitement and prepare to use their own creativity as they come up with ideas for their own stories for my Story Contest. Your teachers can take the students back to the classroom and use my free writing incentive tool right away!
